Retail Management Workshop At EMPI Business School

“Over 40 Million Indians are involved in Retail, which is going to double in next five years” – An opportunity, not to be ignored………..

 

A 3 day Retail Management Workshop was organized on 11th, 12th and 13th of November at EMPI Campus for the final year students of PGDM, Marketing specialization students. The workshop was conducted by Prof. (Dr) G. Kathuria and Dr. Ruchi Nayyar.
 
India is one of the fastest growing retail market in the world with 1.2 billion people. Retail business is to be estimated around 14-15 percent of India’s GDP. The Indian Retail Market is considered to be $450 billion dollars and is among the top five retail markets in the world by economic value.. Indian Retail Industry employs about 40 million people (4 crore) which is going to double in next five years. Indian Retail Market is expected to grow by 6-7 % in next 10 years reaching a size to $850 billion dollars by 2020, which will take the share of organized retaling to 24%.
 
The three day workshop at EMPI was a holistic learning workshop comprising of presentations, case studies, practical assignments outside the campus, audio-visuals and lectures. The students were exposed to the concepts of Retailing, type of retail institutions, store based strategy mix, targeting customers in retail, retail entrepreneurship, choosing retail store location, trade area analysis, visual merchandising, category and merchandise management, retail pricing techniques, loyalty strategies. As the world is going digital, special focus was also given to e-tailing and other no-traditional forms of retailing. 

The students appreciated the new pedagogy of learning and participated in all the workshop activities with lot of zeal and enthusiasm.
